"Cinder in the Wind"
Words & Music by James Nihan
Seems like we're here today
And then we're gone away
Tomorrow
Will all the plans I made
Become a wet parade
Of sorrow?
Will my masterpiece be rushed?
When I lay down my brush
Will the colors bring a hush
Or just be black and blue?
Someday, will I believe
The dreams my elders weave
In twilight
As tethers come untied
And Spirit opens wide
The skylight?
Breathless when the clock has stopped
Weightless when my robe is dropped
Will I rise above the chimney-tops
And yearn to burn again?
A cinder in the wind
