"The Journey"
Words & Music by James Nihan
The remnants of the gypsy tea
The casting of the Celtic runes
Whisper what may come to be
As I drift across the dunes
But there is more than circum-chance
Riding on this rolling stone
To the song of life I dance
Into every new unknown
Chorus:
The path that lies behind me
Acted not unkindly
It follows to remind me
Just how far I've come
Let only love concern me
While I am on this journey
That one day will return me
To where I started from
If a crossroad had no choice
And the winds of change refused to blow
In my heart there is a voice
Telling me which way to go
And if that way is paved with fire
Bramble barb and thistle thorn
I will follow my desire
And walk until my soles are worn
(Repeat Chorus)
Some hold back and hug the shore
Afraid of what will set them free
Some reach out for something more
Beyond the edge of what they see
When I sail across the blue
Dry the eye that sheds the tear
Know that though I slip from view
I will still be with you here
(Repeat Chorus)
